Ingredients:

  • Sugar (powdered) - 1/2 cup
  • Egg - 1 nos
  • Oil - 3 Tablespoon
  • Curd - 3 Tablespoon
  • Semolina - 1 cup (half cup powdered and half cup normal)
  • Desiccated coconut or shredded coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions:

step 1

  • Take a bowl.
  • Add powdered sugar and egg. mix with a whisk or fork.
  • when it comes perfect mix add oil and mix.
  • Add curd and half a cup of powdered semolina and half a cup of normal semolina.
  • mix like a batter foam.
  • Add desiccated coconut, salt, and baking soda.

Add all ingredients and mix well. you can adjust the amount of sugar, according to your taste and preference.

step 2

  • Take a pan.
  • Spread Oil all over your pan.
  • Take semolina and spread it all over your pan.
  • Pour semolina batter into the pan.
Step 3
  • Heat pan on low flame.
  • Pan must be closed with a lid.
  • Cook for 15 minutes.
  • Heat should be in low flame.
  • After 15 minutes, Open the pan.
  • Basbousa cake is ready.
  • Transfer the cake to a plate.
Step 4
  • Make sugar syrup.
  • for this, take half a cup of sugar, one teaspoon of lemon juice, and one cup of water.
  • Boil in medium flame.
  • Turn off the heat after dissolving the sugar. 
  • The sugar syrup is ready.
Step 5
  • Make holes with a fork in the cake.
  • Pour sugar syrup for moisturizing the cake and will get a sweet and spongy texture.
  • Decorate with nuts and cut the cake into square shapes.
